Peter G. Kukielski
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Kukielski brings more than 30 years of diverse international experience in the mining industry to this role. Most recently, Mr. Kukielski was Chief Executive Officer of Anemka Resources from 2014 to 2017, a private company backed by Warburg Pincus formed to invest in global mining assets. From 2008 to 2013 he was the Chief Executive, Mining for ArcelorMittal, responsible for 27 operating mines and three major development projects, distributed within 12 countries. From 2006 to 2008 Mr. Kukielski was the Chief Operating Officer of Teck Resources, responsible for the company’s base metal and gold mines, major development projects and a refinery. From 2001 to 2006 he was with Falconbridge (originally Noranda) in senior roles, latterly including Chief Operating Officer, and in years prior he had various increasingly senior roles with other major mining companies, including direct experiences in engineering, commissioning and operating significant mines in a wide variety of international jurisdictions. Mr. Kukielski has a Masters of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University in California.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Whelan is a chartered accountant and joined Nevsun in February 2014 from the international accounting firm EY LLP where he was the EY Global Mining & Metals Assurance sector leader, the leader of the EY Assurance practice in Vancouver and previously EY’s Canadian Mining & Metals sector leader. Mr. Whelan is a very experienced executive with extensive public company experience having over 20 years of experience working with some of Canada’s largest mining companies as well as in-bound global mining companies with operations in Canada. Mr. Whelan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University.
Frazer W. Bourchier
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Bourchier has more than 25 years of industry experience, working with Placer Dome and Barrick operations for the first 16 years, including significant international experience in South Africa and Papua New Guinea. His operational positions have included Mining Manager, Operations Manager and Mine General Manager. Before joining Nevsun in January 2012 as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Bourchier was the Vice President Business Development and Technical Services for Silver Wheaton and previously the Vice President Operations and Business Development for Intrepid Mines. Mr. Bourchier is a Professional Engineer with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Science & Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Chief Legal Officer
Mr. Giuffre, B.A., LLB., was a founding partner of Axium Law Corporation, a Vancouver based law firm and was previously a partner of Gowlings, a full service national law firm. He has over twenty-five years of combined business and legal experience and has acted for a wide range of Canadian and foreign public corporations, principally in the mining sector. Mr. Giuffre has advised on securities and stock exchange and regulatory matters, public offerings, joint venture transactions, debt and equity financing, mergers and corporate reorganizations, purchase and sale arrangements, corporate governance matters and various other complex commercial matters. Mr. Giuffre joined Nevsun in January 2013.
Chief Development Officer
Mr. Trebilcock is a process engineer and MBA with more than 15 years of industry and consulting experience, working with Nautilus Minerals in Toronto, PRTM management consultants in Boston, Noranda in both Toronto and Philadelphia and Hatch Associates in Toronto, with significant international experience throughout. Mr. Trebilcock joined the Nevsun team in September 2010.
Vice President, Project Development
Mr. Engquist brings over 20 years of engineering and project leadership experience to his role. Immediately prior to joining Nevsun, he was responsible for advancing a portfolio of projects at True Gold and Pilot Gold through various stages of development from advanced exploration through start up. He has held positions with AngloGold Ashanti as Manager of the Projects Group for their US operations and spent several years with Rio Tinto’s Copper Group as a Senior Project Manager. Mr. Engquist led the infrastructure engineering for the underground design of the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia as well as held senior project leadership roles and consulted on several other mining projects at operations such as Kennecott Utah Copper, La Granja in Peru, and Resolution Copper in Arizona. He holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from Michigan Technological University and is a registered Project Management Professional.
Vice President, Exploration
Mr. Manojlovic has been Vice President of Exploration for Nevsun Resources Ltd. since 2012. Mr. Manojlovic has over 25 years of years of global mineral exploration experience in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia working with Falconbridge Limited, Teck Resources Limited and Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. Mr. Manojlovic graduated with a BSc in Geology from Western University and obtained an MSc degree in Geology from Carleton University.
Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility
Mr. Romaine brings with him over 15 years of industry experience overseeing CSR programs including policy & process development, operational governance, environmental monitoring and public awareness initiatives with stakeholders and the public. Working for the past four years with Enbridge Inc., Mr. Romaine has also worked with Inuvialuit Regional Corporation and the Government of Nunavut. He has a BSc in Environmental planning, a BA in Environmental studies an MA in Leadership as well as International Relations. Mr. Romaine joined Nevsun in November 2012.
Vice President, Finance
Mr. Tam is a senior financial executive with over 20 years of business experience. His previous experience included roles with public companies with worldwide mining operations and development properties. Prior to joining Nevsun in November 2015, he served as CFO and Corporate Secretary for Elgin Mining from 2012 up to the date of its acquisition in September 2014. He has also served as VP Finance for Aura Minerals and Treasurer for Thompson Creek Metals Company. Earlier in his career, he spent 7 years at KPMG in their audit and tax advisory departments. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.
